Government-run schools in the national capital topped the category of best performing government institutions across the country.

Government-run schools in the national capital topped the category of best performing government institutions across the country with a success rate of 90.99 in the CBSE class X exams results of which was announced today.

The success rate has increased by 1.55 per cent this year from last year’s 89.44 per cent.

“We have topped the category of best performing government schools for the fifth consecutive year. I congratulate the students,teachers,officials of my department and the parents for the achievement,” Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said.

The Education Minister said 94.46 per cent students from co-education schools (highest in all the three categories) became eligible for the qualifying certificate.

Panchkula region finished second in the category of government-run schools with a success rate of 70.56 per cent among.

Girls continue to outperform boys with 91.75 per cent of them becoming eligible for qualifying certificate against 88.15 per cent boys. CBSE has done away with the practice of declaring any candidate failed.

Lovely said out of 1,32,020 students,who appeared in the board exam,1,20,120 became eligible for the qualifying certificate.

He said in 166 schools,100 per cent students have cleared the test while in 609 schools the success rate was 90 per cent and above. Students from 851 government schools had appeared.

Giving an account of initiatives taken by the government to improve educational infrastructure in schools,he said facilities at 78 schools have already been upgraded under the Roopantar-I project.

“We have identified 56 other schools where facilities will be improved under Roopantar II project,” Lovely said.
