Weed out the towering chunky shoes from your wardrobe this aggressive summer. Thongs or strappy flip-flops with interesting toe-posts are what you need this season. From butterflies to polka dots, embellishments of all kinds are big this summer,say shoe designers Deepika Mehra of Vanilla Moon and Swati Mehrotra of Swatimodo. “The summer look needs a design that’s edgy and thongs definitely capture the cool flirty spirit,” says Mehrotra.

Swati Modo’s light-weight thongs are made from cotton or silk come with polka dot patterns or with dainty roses across the length of the thong. It is all about bright colours for the feet. “Earth tones are out this summer. A yellow mustard tone or bright red is in. Silver and aqua shades also make for some fun dressing,” says Mehrotra. Team your funky flip-flops with short dresses,knee-length skirts or skinny pants.
