The Border Security Force on Sunday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid from across the international border on the eve of the Republic Day,in Kanachak area of Jammu district. Heavy firing from both sides occurred during the wee hours but the infiltrators escaped towards Pakistan.
This was an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists from across the border. However,they fled back to the other side when BSF challenged them, said BSF DIG,Jammu,J B Sangwan.
Official sources said when a BSF patrolling party,deployed on the Kanachak Border Out post,observed suspicious movement of a few persons along the border,they challenged them. But,in response,the infiltrators resorted to firing at the BSF troops who also fired in return. The exchange of fire continued for almost two hours. However,no casualty or injury to anyone was reported from any side,sources said,adding that a search was carried out to check the firing spot but no recovery was made.
