Inflation has peaked: FinMin

Data released on Thursday showed inflation hit a 17-month high of 9.90 pct in March.

Inflation in India has peaked but it would remain high,Kaushik Basu,the finance ministry’s chief economic adviser,said on Friday.

Basu also said inflation would be on a downward trend.

Data released on Thursday showed headline inflation hit a 17-month high of 9.90 per cent in March,making it all but certain the central bank will raise rates for the second time in as many months when it meets next Tuesday to decide on monetary policy.
