Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday announced the setting up of a joint task force along with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to promote industry and development in Jammu and Kashmir. While the CM will be the chairman of the task force,a former head of the CII will be the co-chairman. Prominent industrialists,local CEOs,economists and government officials will be the other members of the team. The task force will also have a working group under it headed by the Chief Secretary.

The Chief Minister announced the formation of the task force during an interaction with CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee. Omar told the CII delegation that his top priority would be on improving skill sets of the state’s youth to enhance their employability in tune with the present job market requirements. He also asked the CII to identify focus areas that could have targeted intervention for development.

Banerjee said the CII would set up a Skill Development Centre in partnership with the Government and would invest Rs 1 crore in various skill development initiatives. He complimented the CM for his vision and added that the CII would soon open an office in Srinagar.
