The Economic Survey of Maharashtra for 2010-11 tabled in the state Assembly projected the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to grow at 10.5 per cent against 8.7 per cent the previous year. The survey presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar,who holds the Finance portfolio,said that the increased agriculture production will help Agriculture and allied activities sector to grow by 12.5 per cent against the growth of 3.1 per cent in the earlier year. Industry is expected to grow by 9.1 per cent while the service sector by 10.9 per cent during the year,it said. According to the survey,expected increase in agricultural production and continued momentum in services sector will help the state economy to grow by 10.5 per cent during 2010-11. The advanced estimates of the GSDP at constant (2004-05) prices are expected at Rs 7,75,020 crore. The Food grain production is expected to increase by 22.9 per cent along with increase in production of cotton (74.9 per cent),oil seeds (73.5 per cent) and sugarcane (23.7 per cent). The expected growth in manufacturing sector is 8.6 per cent whereas the construction sector is expected to grow at 11 per cent along with electricity,gas and water supply at 10.4 per cent. Total rainfall during 2010 was 121.2 per cent of the normal,it said adding out of 355 talukas,195 received excess,145 talukas received normal and only 15 talukas received deficient rainfall. The excess rains in some parts of the state damaged various agriculture and horticulture crops,spread over 11.46 lakh hectares. Revenue receipts of the state are expected to go up to Rs 97,044 crore during 2010-11,as against Rs 88,498 crore in 2009-10. Actual revenues during April-December 2010 were Rs 69,273 crore. As regards power,the survey said that the state had installed capacity of electricity of 19,166 mw as on December 31,2010.
