Make report on India-China war public, says Rajnath

The BJP leader welcomed the Defence Ministrys move to honour the martyrs of the 1962 war but said the government needs to do more by coming up with the long promised national war memorial

Ghaziabad MP and former BJP chief Rajnath Singh has said the controversial Henderson Brooks-P S Bhagat report that goes into the details of the 1962 war should be declassified and made public even as he took on the government for its failure to come up with robust infrastructure in the Northeast.

The people of India have the right to know why the government could not protect Indias national pride and interest. The BJP demands that the Brooks-Bhagat committee report should be declassified and made public, said Singh in a statement he made on the 50th anniversary of the war.

The BJP leader welcomed the Defence Ministrys move to honour the martyrs of the 1962 war but said the government needs to do more by coming up with the long promised national war memorial. The government should also come forward to build a National War Memorial at New Delhi to commemorate the valour, sacrifice and uphold the honour and dignity of our soldiers, he said.

The leader charged the government for taking a soft position on China, which, according to him,has taken up an aggressive stand on the border issue. The UPA government needs to adopt a firm stand with China on issues pertaining to border incursions and send a strong message through its diplomatic channels and international forums, Singh said.
