Mamatas student brigade to serve in Bengal villages

The chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief said details of the student brigade was being worked out and it would be fully functional by next year.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday announced setting up of a student brigade to serve in rural Bengal and promised jobs for anybody who works for the wing for a couple of years.

We are coming up with a student brigade. In January,we will hold a rally of the student brigade at Brigade Parade Ground, Mamata Banerjee told a huge gathering of students on the foundation Day of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) at Netaji Indoor stadium.

The chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief said details of the student brigade was being worked out and it would be fully functional by next year.

Students of this brigade will serve in rural Bengal for two years and then we will ensure their livelihood through an employment bank, Mamata said.

Mamata said students would not have to go outside the state looking for jobs any more. Participate in politics,be serious in your studies and in groups work for people…I will meet you again next year at Brigade Parade Ground, said Mamata.

This was her second rally after her win in the Assembly elections. The first one was at Brigade Parade Ground on July 22.

Mamata said her government had done almost everything that it had promised before the elections.

From Singur to Junglemahal…in just in 90 days we have completed the commitment we made to the people, she said,claiming that the state government had created 2.31 lakh jobs in the last three months.

The chief minister said she was trying to break separate education,health care and administration from politics.

Mamata said as promised,her party was not seeking political vendetta against anyone. She said if she wanted revenge,none of the Left Leaders would be out and there would be need to erect more jails.

We did not name anyone. He himself went to a court and sought anticipatory bail,which led to his arrest, Mamata said,referring to the arrest of former minister and CPM MLA Sushanta Ghosh.
