Maya suspends MP for visiting Amar Singh

BSP has suspended its Jaunpur MP Dhananjay Singh for visiting Amar Singh at AIIMS.

The BSP on Wednesday suspended its Jaunpur MP Dhananjay Singh for visiting Amar Singh at AIIMS in Delhi last week.

Citing indiscipline, state BSP chief Swami Prasad Maurya said the MP had visited Amar Singh without the partys permission and his statement in favour of an accused person, when the matter was pending before the court, amounted to contempt of court. The party has taken it seriously, Maurya said.

After visiting Amar Singh on September 14,Dhananjay had reportedly told the media that his arrest on the basis of the statement of an accused was unjustified. He had added that if Amar Singh could be arrested, then what about Home Minister P Chidambaram who has been named by former telecommunication minister A Raja,an accused in the 2G scam.

Maurya said Dhananjay was ignoring his constituency. Instead of using MPLAD fund for the welfare of people,he spent it on his relatives. Besides,he got undesirable and anarchist elements associated with the BSP. The party leadership had been receiving complaints against him, Maurya said.

Reacting to his suspension,Dhananjay said that he had not received any communication from the party. The CM has been misled. If she asks me,I will dispel misunderstandings, he said. Dhananjay said the party could have served him a show-cause notice.
