In Michelle Obama’s 100 days,the focus has been more on her wardrobe than her achievements. There have been a trillion stories describing her as the new style icon. When she came face to face with French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Strasbourg,their outfits were compared.

Who came out on top? Carla. But the media is all over Michelle,who promotes young and new American designers. When she stood with the G20 wives for a picture,she looked like a tall tree in her unshapely turquoise dress.

If there’s anything else about Michelle that made news,it was the Buckingham Palace ‘blooper’.

The US first lady broke the royal protocol and put her arm around Queen Elizabeth II. Luckily,her Majesty kept talking to her—about shoes.

As the country’s top diplomat,she has already been to Japan,China,South Korea,Indonesia,Mexico,Egypt,Israel,Belgium,Switzerland,Turkey,the Netherlands,the UK,France,Germany,Czech Republic,Haiti,the Dominican Republic,Trinidad and Tobago in six international trips since taking office. On Saturday,she made a surprise visit to Baghdad after the suicide bombings.

According to Foreign Policy,she has travelled 57,622 miles so far. Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had done 74,701 miles by her 85th day. That’s an awful lot more.

Throughout she has backed Obama’s policies and has been the new administration’s voice wherever the President himself could not go. That’s plenty from someone who was Obama’s bitter opponent for the Democratic nomination.
