Micro Focus appoints new VP

To support its growing presence in the federal arena,Micro Focus announced its appointment of Tod Tompkins to Vice President of Federal Sales.

To support its growing presence in the federal arena,Micro Focus announced its appointment of Tod Tompkins to Vice President of Federal Sales.

Tod brings more than 24 years of IT expertise to the Micro Focus team. A seasoned leader with a background in direct sales,channel sales and marketing within the federal government and systems integration sectors,Tod is well positioned to lead Micro Focus into its next phase of growth. He is highly regarded for his dedication to customers’ needs and his understanding of the unique requirements of the government customer.

“Government IT is at a crossroads; under tightening budgets,agencies are looking to cut IT costs while searching for ways to innovate through new technologies like service oriented architecture and cloud computing,” said Ken Powell,President of Micro Focus North America. “Tod’s depth of federal expertise and leadership will help Micro Focus position its applications modernization solutions to the federal government,showing agencies how they can migrate their mainframe applications to Windows,Unix,or cloud platforms to cut costs and deliver innovative new government services.”

Before joining Micro Focus,Tod served as Director of Federal Sales at EMC,where he was instrumental in driving the company’s public sector business. Among other positions,Tod also served in a federal sales role at Microsoft,managing the company’s Civilian Science & Energy business vertical. Tod is a graduate of George Mason University,where he received a BS in Public Administration.
