Minor girl thrown out of train,hunt on for accused

A man threw a minor girl out of a train after she resisted his attempt to molest her on Sunday evening in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

The 12-year-old tribal girl,a student of Class VII,has been admitted to a local hospital and her condition is stable.

The accused,Ramdayal Kevat,38,is absconding. He was a family friend and would often visit the victims house in Rajbundhia village.

She was travelling with Kevat in the Bilaspur-Gevra Passenger Express,and he tried to molest her at around 3-4 pm. When she resisted,he threw her out of the train, Korba Additional SP Vijay Pandey told The Indian Express.

The incident took place as the train was passing between Kusmunda and Urga,two towns in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. Locals rushed her to a hospital.

The girl was to go with her father to another village to collect a scholarship amount but the accused convinced her parents to let him accompany the victim and then drop her home,Pandey said.

Kevat is a notorious character. The girl’s parents told us that he had earlier tried to molest her elder sister also, the ASP said. He added that a manhunt is on to arrest him.

A case has been registered in the local police station against Kevat.
