The Defence Ministry has received reports on the Adarsh Housing Society case from the Army,Navy and the Defence Estates department and will decide on the course of action shortly.
While the ministry is clear that punitive action should be taken against all found guilty,a decision is to be taken on on what position the government will take on the status of the land.
The Navy says the society poses a security threat and can be used to plot and carry out attacks on its establishments. The Army says the land was in its possession and is believed to have staked a claim to ownership. It says the Army HQ was not informed of the clearances to the society.
The Defence Estates report elaborates on the legal status of the land, including references to its communication with the state government over the past few decades.
We are studying the reports to collate relevant information. The next course action will come on Monday, a senior official said.
