The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today said the modalities with regard to taking back power projects operated by NHPC in the state will be announced soon. "Very soon there will be necessary announcements with regard to modalities which the state is demanding in regard to return of power projects (from NHPC to the state)," KCCI said in a statement after meeting Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday. KCCI said various issues, particularly of return of power projects from the NHPC,were discussed with the Chief Minister. "He (Omar) was very clear that his government will ensure return of projects from NHPC and the government is serious about it," the chamber said. The KCCI also urged the Chief Minister to take up with the Centre the issue of releasing Rs 100 crore for sick units, which have already been sanctioned on recommendations of the Prime Minister's Task Force. "The KCCI also emphasised that the issue of debt relief needs to be taken up with the Government of India,so that all sectors of the economy, including industry, tourism and transport, will get necessary relief and a conducive climate is created for new investments in Kashmir," it said.
