Indian pharmacy graduates will get increasing number of job openings as an increasing number of international drug manufacturers are setting up facilities in the country to produce cheaper medicines,a Pharmacy Council of India official said here today.
“More and more international drug manufacturers are setting up facilities in India to produce medicines at cheaper cost where trained and experienced pharmacists will be needed.
“Also countries of the erstwhile Soviet Union have decided not to import drugs from outside their region after 2020,” B Suresh,President,Pharmacy Council of India said in a function at Sri Ramachandra University here.
He said they are asking Indian drug manufacturers to set up units in their countries to manufacture drugs required by them cheaper than imported cost.
He also said pharmacy practice was becoming increasingly specialised and the day was not far off when there would be separate pharmacists for cardiology,nephrology,neurology and other specialities.
