After burning records at two gram panchayats in Gadchiroli in the past four days,Naxals sprang a surprise in Gondia by striking at policemen disguised as civilians and killing one of them.

Constable Manoj Binzade,30,fell to a Naxal bullet, when the insurgents waiting in ambush suddenly appeared on the road. Binzade and four other policemen from Kanutola Armed Outpost were driving along on their bikes to check the reports of Naxal posters being found somewhere near Dhambitola village.

“Our preliminary information is that our men were in civilian clothes. Halfway down the road, they encountered Naxal fire. The Naxal fire hit Binzade, who was in the front. Our men realised there were more Naxals waiting in ambush around. But they later safely reached the Kanutola post,” Additional DGP (Anti-Naxal Operations) Vishnudev Mishra told The Indian Express.

The incident occurred between 8 and 9 am.
