NIA team in UP in search of IM men

However,the sources said,UP Police seem reluctant in helping the NIA in conducting raids at possible hideouts.

An NIA team from Delhi has been camping in Lucknow since Monday to act upon information about the whereabouts of wanted IM operatives Mirza Shadab Beig and Ariz Khan alias Junaid,both of Azamgarh. According to NIA information,both are hiding in Azamgarh.

Sources said the NIA team,along with officials of central agencies,have conducted meetings with Home Department and UP police officials,seeking help in arresting the two terror accused.

However,the sources said,UP Police seem reluctant in helping the NIA in conducting raids at possible hideouts.

Asked about the matter,UP DGP Deo Raj Nagar said he was not authorised to comment on the matter.

Khan carries a reward of Rs 10 lakh from NIA and Rs 5 lakh from Delhi special cell for his alleged role in Delhi serial blasts on September 13,2008. Beig carries a reward of Rs 10 lakh from NIA and Rs one lakh from Delhi police for the 2008 Delhi serial blasts.
