The first round of talks between the Gurjjar agitation spearhead,Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday proved inconclusive. Following the meeting that ended late at night,Bainsla stated that the government had made some promises but the agitation would continue in a peaceful manner till an agreement is reached. Bainsla met senior government functionaries, ministers and Congress Gurjjar leaders over the implementation of the reservation Bill that grants Gurjjars and three other communities quota in government recruitments and education. Gehlot reportedly told him that the Rajasthan High Court had stayed the reservation and that his government was doing its best to vacate the stay. He said he was ready to go to the Supreme Court.
