All-round development of Maharashtra is not possible without having proper infrastructure facilities in place,Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Praful Patel said today. "No development can be achieved without adequate infrastructure," he said here in Central Maharashtra. The NCP leader was speaking at the Kaku-Nana memorial festival organised in the memory of late MP Kesharkaku Kshirsagar. The work on Ahmadnagar-Beed-Parli railway route,for which the State Government has sanctioned Rs 500 crore,was likely to be completed very soon,he said while speaking about infrastructure in Marathwada region. Recognising the need for a full-fledged airport in Beed,the former Civil Aviation Minister said he will seek permission for the same from the Centre within two months. Without taking the name of social activist Anna Hazare,Patel said some people are forgetting Gandhian way of life. "This is not a good thing for the future of India and its democracy." Sustainable development is not possible without democracy. Some people are losing faith in democracy. This is a very dangerous trend,the NCP leader said. Members of Parliament Govindrao Adik and Hema Malini,State Public Works Department Minister (Public Enterprise) Jaydutt Kshirsagar and spiritual leader Bhayyuji Maharaj were prominent among those present at the function. Speaking on the occasion,Hema Malini expressed concern over the rising cases of female foeticide. "Women are today present in every field. I appeal to the people not to kill the girl child."
