P&G Q3 net profit down 10.8%

Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care reported 10.81 per cent decline in net profit.

FMCG major Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care reported 10.81 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 38.94 crore for its third quarter ended March 31,2011.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 43.66 crore in the corresponding period previous year,P&G said in a statement.

Its net sales during the quarter,however,increased by 14.35 per cent to Rs 234.39 crore from Rs 204.97 crore in the year-ago period,it added.

“We will continue to focus on leveraging our strong core capabilities to touch and improve the lives of more and more Indian consumers,now and for generations to come,” Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Limited (PGHHCL) Managing Director Shantanu Khosla said.

During the quarter,the company said its consumption of raw material and packaging material cost increased to Rs 94.95 crore from Rs 46.67 crore in the year-ago period.

P&G’s advertising and promotion spend decreased to Rs 37.96 crore from Rs 44.13 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

The shares of the company today closed 1.14 per cent up at Rs 2010 a piece on the BSE.
