Pak aiding infiltration: Shinde

J&K: Cant withdraw security forces till situation is peaceful

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Sunday accused Pakistan of continuing to help militants infiltrate into India. We have information that Pakistan is helping terrorists to enter our territory. We have intelligence inputs. But we are alert, he told reporters on the sidelines of a function to mark Police Commemoration Day.

The minister, who toured Jammu & Kashmir recently where he presided over a meeting of the Unified Command, said his ministry had urged extra vigilance in the ongoing festival season to ensure peace. I also appeal to people to be extra careful, he said.

At the meeting of the Unified Command,Shinde had said that infiltration had increased over the past few months, calling for stepped-up security vigil.

The home minister ruled out the immediate withdrawal of security forces from Jammu & Kashmir. When I was in J&K,local people asked me to remove the Army from the Valley but I told them that we cant do that until the situation is peaceful, he said.
