Parliament adjourned,no business on Day 1

The Rajya Sabha saw commotion when BJP demanded the House condole the death of Patna serial blasts victims.

No business was conducted on the opening day of the Winter Session as both the Houses condoled the death of sitting members Mohan Singh and Murarilal Singh before being adjourned for the day.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar led the House in expressing grief over the death of Singh,a BJP MP from Sarguja who died in Raipur on Wednesday. He was 61. “Singh relentlessly worked for the welfare of tribals,” Kumar said. In Rajya Sabha,Chairman Hamid Ansari said the country lost an outstanding parliamentarian and a distinguished social worker in the passing away of Singh,a veteran SP leader.

Besides Singh,the Rajya Sabha paid respects to five others. The Lok Sabha marked the death of seven members.

The Rajya Sabha saw commotion when BJP demanded the House condole the death of Patna serial blasts victims. Congress’s Hanumantha Rao wanted a mention of the loss of lives in Telangana,while Mohammed Adeeb wanted a mention of the Muzaffarnagar riots.
