Party targets Raman govt, says did not give security

Demanding Presidential Rule in Chhattisgarh,Congress leaders met the Governor Shekhar Dutt late on Saturday night.

Demanding Presidential Rule in Chhattisgarh,Congress leaders met the Governor Shekhar Dutt late on Saturday night. They alleged that the entire police force of the state was deployed for Chief Minister Raman Singhs Vikas Yatra and not a single policeman was given for the Congresss Parivartan Yatra.

When Raman Singh, just one person,goes,3,000 police personnel follow him. All resources of the state government have been deployed in Vikas Yatra. There was not a single policeman with our leaders today. They were left to die, said former chief minister Ajit Jogi, who met the Governor. He was among the participants in Saturdays Parivartan Yatra.

In fact, the attack was made possible only by a major security failure. Top Congressmen were moving through the Maoist zone, but the police had not even cleared the area.

This is in sharp contrast with the massive security the Chief Minister got when he visited Bastar on his Vikas Yatra. State police chief Ramniwas and Bastar IG Himanshu Gupta accompanied him to most of the places.

It is a criminal failure on the part of the Raman Singh government. The government did not even provide Road Opening Party for our topmost leaders, said Shailesh Nitin Trivedi,Congress media convenor. We are trying to visit interior areas, hence the government has left us to become an easy target. Congress workers gheraoed Raj Bhavan late Saturday night and demanded Presidential Rule in the state. Party workers also took out protests in other places. They attacked BJP offices in some districts, according to sources.
