Hours after Chief Minister K Rosaiah categorically ruled out postponing written examination for recruitment of police Sub-Inspectors,the Andhra Pradesh Government did a turn around by giving in to the demand raised by the political parties and the violent protests by pro-Telangana activists and announced postponement of the examination originally scheduled for December 18 and 19.
State Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy announced at a press conference here today that the exam would be conducted at a later date after a peaceful atmosphere was established.
“For the last four days we have made every effort to allay apprehensions that no injustice would be done to candidates from Telangana in the recruitment of SIs. However,as a responsible government,we have decided to postpone the examination in view of the on-going agitation against the conduct of the test,” the home minister said.
She however,parried question on the fallout of the government’s latest decision to put off the SI recruitment test.
