Politics is filth, not right way, says Anna

Anna Hazare described politics as “filth” and movement as “sacred”

Continuing his tirade against his former aides,Anna Hazare,on his maiden visit here following the IAC split 10 days ago, described politics as “filth” and movement as “sacred”.

He refrained from naming Arvind Kejriwal, the principal protagonist of the political option, but said that his decision to dissociate himself from the political party was due to Kejriwal team’s inability to answer five of his questions.

Disbanding the IAC core committee,Hazare had described the political option as a “good way” and asked questions about how the party would choose candidates, fund electoral forays. His blog on Friday indirectly lambasted Kejriwal for having split the team. Contending that a big movement and not politics will give the country its future,Hazare said he had told the pro-party group that the route of politics was “not the right direction”. “If I had to enter elections I would have done it much earlier. I have not even fought panchayat polls. When I talk about alternative,I am not talking about political alternative,” he said.

He is meeting representatives of NGOs and former government officials during his two-day visit. Kiran Bedi and Medha Patkar were absent at Sunday’s deliberations.
