Rs 12,067 cr for power: Rajasthan Budget

The Rajasthan government today earmarked Rs 12,067 crore for the state's power sector in the Budget 2011-12.

The Rajasthan government today earmarked Rs 12,067 crore for the state’s power sector in the Budget 2011-12.

An increase of 1,860 MW in power generation in state sector and 810 MW in private sector was expected during the next FY year,Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Gehlot said electricity connections will be given to 65,000 farmers during the next year and 500 farmers will be provided solar energy based pump sets.

The Chief Minister proposed to raise the compensation amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh to the family of those who die in electricity-related incidents.

A proposal of Rs 4,000 crore for the roads has also been made in the Budget,with a special focus on rural road connectivity.

Gehlot announced a road connectivity scheme to connect all important religious places of the state with road network of 1,100 km. 1,833 hamlets (small villages) with population of 500 or more will also be linked with roads.
