Saeed, his supporters rally against US bounty

Religious parties and groups held protests in different parts of Pakistan to condemn the announcement of $10 million bounty on the head of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed

Religious parties and groups on Friday held protests in different parts of Pakistan to condemn the announcement of $10 million bounty on the head of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed.

Saeed was himself present at a huge protest gathering outside the Jamaat-ud-Dawa’s head office,Jamia Markaz al-Qadsia,in Lahore, where he urged the participants at the demonstration to wage jihad against America.

In his speech at the protest march, the JuD chief, who is also wanted by India for his alleged role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, said the time has come for Muslims to save Pakistan and Islam.

Addressing the US government he said,“It is time for us to teach you the meaning of jihad.”

People leaving the markaz after Friday prayers were asked to donate funds for jihad and armed men were also visible at the gathering. The US government has announced the bounty for Saeed claiming he was affiliated with the banned Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Pakistan has asked the US and India to provide “concrete” evidence against Saeed. Saeed said the US was scared of his name.

In Muzzaffarabad, the Difa-e-Pakistan,which was cobbled together by Saeed, held a big rally in which participants called for jihad against the Americans and burnt US flags.
