Samjhauta: ‘Happy Pragya had ice-cream’

Chargesheet quotes aide saying Sadhvi Pragya shrugged off Hindu deaths.

Pragya Singh was very happy and ordered an ice-cream while watching on television the coverage of the Samjhauta Express blast on February 19,2007.”

This account of Neera Narwar,an associate of Sadhvi Pragya Singh,is part of her written statement in the chargesheet filed last week by the Dewas police in the Sunil Joshi murder case.

On the morning of February 19,Narwar said,Pragya took her to a neighbour’s home in Surat to watch television and was very happy. Narwar says that when she told Pragya even Hindus had died in the blast, she replied: “Chaney ke saath ghun bhi pista hai.”

Two days earlier,Narwar said,Pragya,Joshi and Swami Assemanand had held an hour-long meeting in Valsad, from which Narwar was kept out.

Pragya’s associate also recounts the day Joshi was murdered,on December 29,2007,when she says the sadhvi took her along to Dewas,Joshi’s home town. The Joshi chargesheet says Pragya plotted the murder.

Narwar says she didn’t know of the sadhvi’s role, but has testified that Pragya looked very worried. On seeing the body of the former RSS pracharak, she repeatedly asked someone,“Kuchh mila kya (Have you found anything)?”

Narwar said Pragya and she returned to Indore in the night, but the sadhvi went out around 4-5 am for a short while. She reportedly asked Narwar to collect SIM cards from Raj,Mehul and Mohan (the other accused in the Joshi murder case).
