Sangma to file plea against Pranab in apex court on Aug 21

P A Sangma,who lost the recent Presidential election,will file his petition in the Supreme Court against the election of Pranab Mukherjee as President on August 21.

P A Sangma,who lost the recent Presidential election,will file his petition in the Supreme Court against the election of Pranab Mukherjee as President on August 21.

“PA Sangma,the candidate declared defeated in the Presidential election,will be filing the election petition challenging winning candidate Pranab Mukherjee’s election to the post of President of India,” said Satya Pal Jain,who was Sangma’s authorised representative during the election.

Sangma will be assisted by noted lawyer and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani and former BJP MP Satya Pal Jain in filing of his petition.

The BJP,which had supported Sangma’s Presidential bid,however,sought to distance itself from the move.

“We would like to make it clear if Sangma takes such a step,then it will be his personal choice. As far as BJP and NDA is concerned,post-election we have welcomed the election of the President of India,” party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
