The police have charged Kashmir HC Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom under sedition and waging war against the country. A fresh FIR was filed at Janipur police station in Jammu for raising anti-national slogans when he was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on January 8. Kashmir High Court Bar Association has termed the charges against Qayoom as “fabricated and frivolous”.

Qayoom,an ideological ally of hardline Hurriyat chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was arrested in July following the outbreak of stone throwing across the Valley. He was accused of instigating the protests.
