Two weeks after the CBI took over the probe into the death of RTI activist Shehla Masood in Bhopal, the agency on Friday announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information or clues into the murder.
Masood was shot outside her house in Bhopal on August 16. On September 3,a case was registered against unnamed persons by the Bhopal unit of the agency.
After taking over the probe, the agency had carried out forensic analysis and collected the case file from MP police.
Madhya Pradesh Police could not figure out the motive but suspected she was eliminated by some powerful persons against whom she had filed RTI applications.
Shehla had earlier gone on a hungerstrike in support of Anna Hazares cause. She was also involved in other causes, including wildlife conservation. Her father Sultan Masood had said he expected no justice, being a lower middle-class person, and did not think that the police were probing the case sincerely.
