1 in 7 The ratio,rounded off,of women winners to the women fielded (93) by all parties put together. It betters the one in eight of last time,when 55 women had been fielded; this times 14 winners are also twice last times seven.
2 of 3 The BJP has the best success rate among the major parties,marginally better than those of the other two. The SAD has 6 winners out of 10,followed by the Congress with 6 of 11.6 of 14 The winners from reserved seats. Nihalsinghwala,Mehal Kalan,Dina Nagar,Shutrana,Bhoa and Sham Chaurasi each elected a woman. Rajwinder Kaur (SAD) edged Ajit Singh (Congress) in Nihalsinghwala by 572 votes. Harchand Kaur (Congress) won in Mehal Kalan,Aruna Chaudhary (Congress) in Dina Nagar,Varinder Kaur Loomba (SAD) in Shutrana,Seema Kumari (BJP) in Bhoa,and Mohinder Kaur Josh (daughter of Akali leader Arjun Singh Josh) in Sham Chaurasi.
Wife vs wife
Nawanshahr saw a contest between the wives of two former MLAs,with Guriqbal Kaur,wife of late Congress MLA Parkash Singh,defeating Satinder Kaur Kariha,wife of late SAD MLA Jatinder Singh Kariha.
In Malerkotla,where the contest was between the wives of two high-profile cops,one retired and one serving,Farzana Khatoon,wife of former DGP Izhar Alam,beat Razia Sultana,wife of ADGP Mohammad Mustafa.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu,wife of the former cricketer,won Amritsar East defeating Congress rebel
Somarpreet Bhatia,whose husband had been killed in an accident but whom the Congress chose not to field.
Other wives
Charanjit Bajwa,wife of Gurdaspur MP Pratap Singh Bajwa,won in Qadian .
Karan Kaur Brar,one of Punjabs 10 richest candidates,won in Muktsar two days after the death of her husband,MLA Sunny Brar.
Harpreet Kaur,wife of former Akali minister Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur,won in Ghanour.

Congress MP Santosh Chaoudharys husband Ram Lubhaya,a former MLA who won the 2002 polls,lost in Sham Chaurasi.
Harbans Kaur,wife of former Punjab Congress president Shansher Singh Dullo,lost to Justice Nirmal Singh,husband of Faridkot MP Gulshan Kaur.
Other winners
Rajinder Kaur Bhattal,Leader of the Opposition,won yet again from Lehra. Her son-in-law Vikram Bajwa lost in Sahnewal.
Bibi Jagir Kaur,former Shiromani Gurdwara Committee president and an accused in the murder of her daughter Harpreet Kaur,reclaimed Bholath from Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira
Losers
Suman Kaypee,wife of MP Mohinder Kaypee,lost in Jalandhar West.
Satkar Kaur,handpicked by Rahul Gandhui from Ferozepur Rural,lost by a slender 109 votes. Her husband is on the run after allegedly killing a youth on polling day.
