Songs of Autumn

Season after season,Delhi-based designers Pankaj-Nidhi immerse themselves in books to find inspiration for their edgy collections. Their latest Autumn-Winter collection,The Music Box that walked the ramp on Day One of WIFW AW 2013 is no different.

As the title suggests, the two look at music this season to define their signature crisp ensembles and, along the way,the art and architecture of the Baroque period joined in. As models sashayed down the runway in straight-fit dresses,fuss-free jackets and slim long skirts, many in the audiences applauded. Winter colours such as navy blue, red and black dominated the fabrics they used merino wool, silk jersey and leather. The clothes exuded the New Woman confidence and fit the bill for strong corporate honchos women,of course.

The beauty of the collection lay in its simplicity as well as the subtle- yet-evident embellishments. Crewel and lattice work on the sleeves of cinched-waist jackets with half-peplum cuts were a runway hit. Clearly, the duos strength lies in their ability to convert an ordinary idea into an impressive collection.
