The Delhi High Court’s ruling, decriminalising same gender consensual sex,on Friday figured in the Rajya Sabha with the Samajwadi Party asking the government to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court saying legalising homosexuality would destroy Indian culture and established tradition and values. “Where are you taking the country? If this goes on,our culture will crumble,” SP’s Ram Gopal Yadav said. He was supported by several other members. He said legalising homosexuality had implications for other Acts and statutes like the marriage Act and succession Act. “If you do not appeal in the Supreme Court, the old in the country will have a miserable life,” he said.
