Status quo prevails between AI pilots, management

AI may be heading for another strike after the meeting between the pilots and the airline management remained 'inconclusive'.

Cash-strapped Air India may be heading for another strike after the meeting between the pilots and the airline management remained “inconclusive” on Thursday.

“The talks remained ‘inconclusive’ as the management was adamant over our demands, they have even refused to pay our due salaries and allowances and said that we will have to accept the cut,” Capt Ravindra Kumar, regional secretary of Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association, said after a three-hour long meeting at the Airlines House in New Delhi.

“With such an attitude of the airline management, strike seems imminent,” he said, adding the CMD,Arvind Jadhav himself had called us for the talks but was not present in the meeting.

The pilots have been demanding an inquiry into the alleged mismanagement of the airline, implementation of uniform rules for all the employees of erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India and a turnaround plan from the management without any cut in the salaries of any employees.

The pilots’ association,on November 2,had written a letter to Air India Chairman-cum-Managing Director Arvind Jadhav for payment of their salaries and incentives by November 10,failing which they would be forced to proceed on strike from November 24.
