Tata Motors is in discussions with Myanmar government for setting up a bus-assembly line apart from supply of passenger vehicles to the neighbouring country. The issue came up for discussion between the visiting Myanmar Minister of Industry Soe Thein and Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Praful Patel here today. The Ministers discussed ways of bringing about mutually beneficial collaboration between the companies and industries of both the nations. "Tata Motors is engaged in discussions with Myanmar on setting up a bus-assembly line and on supply of passenger vehicles to Myanmar. The success of these projects is a precursor to everlasting strong commercial relation relations between the two countries," an official release said. A few Indian companies have also shown interest in rubber plantations and production of rubber products in Myanmar,it said. "With the support of the Myanmar Government,these projects will be instrumental in paving ways for increased investment from India in industry and technology," it said. Further,the statement said that both the ministers also discussed about facilitating Indian companies to enter in the automobile sector of the neighbouring country. "The Ministers agreed that India and Myanmar should work together to benefit from the opportunities arising as a result of these efforts and work together to make these projects successful," it said.
