Under attack for financial irregularities by its members and criticised for engaging in secrecy in funds while it champions transparency,Team Anna on Tuesday made its audit report for six months public. The report was published on the website of India Against Corruption on Tuesday.

The report is a financial record of the Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF) — an NGO where Arvind Kerjiwal is a trustee and which, according to the Team,is acting as secretariat of India Against Corruption (IAC) — for a period of six months from April 1 to September 30 this year.

According to the report, audited by Bhavani Sharma and Co,the chartered accountancy firm based in New Delhi,IAC collected donations of Rs 2.94 crore during the period of six months. Out of this,a total collection of Rs 1.14 crore was made during the first three days of protest at Ramlila Maidan after which collection was stopped, according to the Team.

According to it,out of the Rs 2.94 crore collected during the period,Rs 42.55 lakh received through online transfers or direct cheque deposits will be returned to the donors due to “lack of complete details of donors and their sources of funding”. This leaves Rs 2.51 crore with the Team.

According to Team Anna, the total number of people who contributed financially stands at 27,505 though it claims that the number is actually higher as many contributions were deposited by individuals after collection from a neighbourhood, village or a group. A great portion of donors — 25,023 — contributed during the Ramlila protest.

The highest single donation is Rs 25 lakh while about 400 contributions are of Rs 10,000 or above. As many as 23,138 contributions are of Rs 1000 or less.

“It is humbling and moving to note that people with very limited resources contributed with sums like Rs 1,2,5 of their hard earned money. This means more to us than millions stashed away illegally,” the Team adds in a ‘thank you’ note attached with the report.
