The Lok Sabha was paralysed during the first half of Tuesday with members belonging to the Congress,TRS and Telugu Desam coming into the well. JD(U) members also staged a similar demonstration in the well to register their protest against Team Annas remarks against MPs.
TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and party colleague Vijaya Shanthi made a dash for the well from their seats the moment the House met. And half-a-dozen Congress members from the Telangana region,sporting black badges,followed them. Taking turns,they all shouted Jai Telangana.
As the protest went on,Kumar adjourned the House till noon. When the House met again,the protesters were back in action. The paper-laying over,the Speaker took up special mentions. SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav,who was called,spoke on the grievances of jewellers in UP. The Speaker called Akali Dal member Rattan Singh Ajnala next,but adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm when he had barely started speaking.
Gujarat anti-terror law delayed again
After an eight-year wait,Narendra Modi governments attempt to get the Centres nod for an anti-terror law for Gujarat has come a cropper again with President Pratibha Patil withholding her assent. The President has withheld her assent from the (Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime) Bill on January 22,2012,as the state government had not made any amendments in clauses 16 and 20 in the said Bill as per the directives contained in Presidential message to the earlier Bill, MoS Home Mullappally Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
