After Welcome,Singh Is Kinng,No Entry,No Problem,Anees Bazmee has come up with Thank You. Everybody knows that his films are not meant to be taken seriously. If you keep this in mind, you may be able to extract quite a few laughs from this silly comedy that tries to reinvent Hindi cinemas age-old cliche of infidelty. Co-produced by Akshay Kumar, the film caters to the male ego and is a series of gags that buddies dont mind sharing after a few drinks. However, some of the situations are highly regressive and we have watched these kind of scenes in the 1980s films, where macho heroes used to treat their wives as doormats who observed karwa chauth for divine intervention to keep their philandering husbands in check. Irrfan,Bobby Deol and Suneil Shetty play three such men who cheat on their wives with amazing regularity. Two of them are adept at it while Shetty lacks expertise in deception and gets caught. The dumb wives played by Sonam Kapoor,Rimi Sen and Celina Jaitly hire a private dectective Kishan (Akshay Kumar),who brings the unfaithful men back inside the boundaries of matrimony after a roller-coaster ride. Along the way,Bazmee drops more than a hint that Akshay develops feelings for Sonam but doesnt explore it enough and takes a safe exit towards the end with the hope of balancing sentiments, making a mockery of the issue. As for the performances,Akshay Kumar is splendid with his comic timing though he is repeating himself in the past few films. Its Irrfan who steals the thunder and leaves a strong impression with his flawless comic timing. Bobby Deol looks out of place here. As for the leading ladies,Sonam Kapoor looks glamourous but its Rimi Sen,who manages to imbue some life in the loud jokes. Celina Jaitly has no scope at all. Despite its regressive theme and content,Thank You deserves a two-star rating. Raghu Chandra Parsa,Secunderabad
