NREGS: Orissa gives nod to CBI probe

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa government on Saturday gave its consent for a CBI inquiry into the multi-crore NREGS scam in the state. The Supreme Court had directed the government to issue a formal notification for a CBI probe by April 25,the next date of hearing of the civil writ petition filed by an NGO alleging misappropriation of NREGS funds in the districts of Kalahandi,Keonjhar,Naurangpur,Bolangir,Raygada,Malakagiri and Koraput.

2G: Incomplete papers,says Raja

New Delhi: Former telecom minister A Raja and two corporate executives — Unitech’s Sanjay Chandra and D B Realty’s Shahid Usman Balwan — chargesheeted in the 2G scam case,have filed a complaint before a Special CBI court that documents supplied to them by the CBI were incomplete.

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to a CWG Organising Committee official,K U K Reddy,and a private firm director,Praveen Bakshi,in the Games overlays scam as the CBI failed to file the chargesheet against them within the stipulated 60-day period.

Dummy firms: Businessman held

New Delhi: A Delhi-based businessman who runs a petrochemicals factory in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI)

for allegedly floating dummy companies and then claiming rebate under the Central Excise Act.
