Umas quiet visit

On her first visit to her home state after rejoining the BJP,Uma Bharti kept it low-profile. The quietness around her arrival and departure from Bhopal was in stark contrast to the boisterous welcomes she used to be accorded in her best years, when she played a key role in helping the BJP dislodge the Congress. Thrown out of the BJP in 2005 and wiser after failing to make a mark on her own,Bharati seems to be religiously following the partys advice to keep away from MP politics. She said the visit was strictly personal,to meet her elder brother after a recent accident.

School of drama

Madhya Pradesh has got its own school of drama, which Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma says is the first for any state. Inaugurated by L K Advani, the school had been first planned by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan two years ago when he said he wanted not only to promote talent but also to give employment opportunities to local artistes. Out of the 250 applicants received from across the country,25 have been selected for the first batch. A delighted Advani went back and blogged about the cultural initiative of the MP government, calling it commendable. He also had a word of praise for Anupam Khers Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai,a play staged at the inauguration.
