Thomas Cook (India) Q1 net up 149% at Rs 4.3 crore

Travel company Thomas Cook (India) said on Tuesday that it has posted a 149 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 4.3 crore for the first quarter ended March 31,2011.

Net profit for the corresponding January-March period a year ago was Rs 1.9 crore,a company release said.

The company said it witnessed a higher incidence of expenditure during the reporting period due to an “one-time payout”,it said,without specifying the exact figure or any other detail about the payout.

The statement further added,without giving specifics,that “certain disruptions during the quarter,in one of the subsidiaries,resulted in one-time charges. These disruptions have been resolved.”

Going ahead,the firm,which has 180 offices in 72 cities,said the forward bookings for outbound travel are looking strong and are higher by 23 per cent vis-a-vis last year.
