TVS files FIR against former employee for sharing secrets

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today said it has filed an FIR against a former employee for allegedly sharing company secrets and business techniques with an outsider causing huge loss to the auto major.

Two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company today said it has filed an FIR against a former employee for allegedly sharing company secrets and business techniques with an outsider causing huge loss to the auto major.

According to the First Information Report filed at the Mathigiri Police Station in Krishnagiri district on April 21,the company said the employee,hailing from Chhattisgarh,sent 10 e-mails containing company secrets,business techniques and operation files from his official e-mail to personal e-mail.

Confirming that the FIR was filed against the employee,TVS Motor Company Senior Vice President Cecil K Dewars said,”We consider this as a serious breach of trust and a case of cheating with unscrupulous and premeditated intentions”. In the FIR,TVS said that “transferring of 10 files to an e-mail id which has no relevance to our company has caused losses to business and affected the technological development of the company”.

It alleged that the employee had stolen and transferred secret files on March 23 to the personal e-mail,”causing breach of trust and cheated the company. He was relieved from work on that day itself”,it said. The employee had joined the company as sales executive in 2009.

As part of his job requirements,he had access to important information,business secrets of the company which were exchanged via e-mail,the FIR said. However,he tendered his resignation on March 1,the FIR said.
