Twitter and Google have reportedly launched separate buttons to replicate Facebook”s ”Like” button, allowing web surfers to endorse search results and advertisements.

The move would reportedly make it faster and easier for Twitter to track the daily thoughts of famous people on its short-messaging service.

The new shortcut is being provided by a Twitter ”Follow” button that can be placed on websites to highlight celebrities, athletes, reporters and other people who tweet their thoughts and share other information, the Daily Mail reports.

Over 50 websites have reportedly agreed to use the new feature so far, including AOL,Yahoo,The Wall Street Journal,Sports Illustrated and TV Guide.

The famous people using the feature include Justin Bieber,Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, who has the most Twitter followers at 10.6 million.

The news came on the same day that Google was expected to expand its own recommendation button, called ”+1”,to other websites.

+1 was first launched in March next to search results for just two percent of English-language results in the U.S. Google, however, has now invited third-party websites to add the button, placing it in more direct competition with Facebook”s ”Like” button, the paper said.
