Upendra in Godfather

Kannada actor Upendra is playing the lead role in Godfather,the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Varalaaru.

Kannada actor Upendra is playing the lead role in Godfather,the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Varalaaru.

Varalaaru had Ajit in the lead role and was directed by hit filmmaker K.S.Ravikumar; Asin and Kaniha were the leading ladies. The film was a big success and Ajit’s performance was also highly appreciated.

Godfather will be directed by Sethu Sriram,who is a popular Tamil cinematographer and who has cranked the camera for films like Samurai (with Vikram) and Priyasakhi (with R. Madhavan and Sada).

Sethu Sriram says,“As a cinematographer,I have shot films in Hindi like Shakti The Power with Shah Rukh Khan,Tere Naam and Wanted (Salman Khan),Shahid Kapoor’s and Kareena Kapoor’s Milenge Milenge and now with Akshay Kumar in Oh My God. I have some good films in Tamil too. In Telugu,I have worked with Krishna Vamsi in Sri Anjaneyam and with Pawan Kalyan in Annavaram. Mohanlal’s Thanmathra and Dileep’s production venture The Metro are a part of my resume in Malayalam. It is the experience that I gathered working with such eminent people that has made me embark on my first film as director.”

A.R. Rahman makes his entry into Kannada by scoring the music for Godfather. To be produced by K.Manju,the film will have Soundarya Jayamala and Catherine Tresa as the heroines. Bhumika Chawla does a guest role while Sethu Sriram himself would be the cinematographer.
