Vidya Sinha wins battle for child support

A decade-long legal fight ended in relief and Rs 10,000 monthly compensation for yesteryear star Sinha.

A decade-long legal fight on Wednesday ended in relief and Rs 10,000 per month compensation for yesteryear actress Vidya Sinha.

Sinha,of Rajnigandha,Choti Si Baat,Pati Patni Aur Woh fame, married Australian citizen Netaji Bhimrao Salunke in June 2001 but walked out soon as Salunke began “torturing” her,as well as a girl child she adopted,“mentally and physically”.

After they separated,Vidya asked for child support. Salunke refused and Sinha moved the court. The magistrate’s court ordered Salunke to pay Rs 10,000 per month, but Salunke again refused and challenged the order in a sessions court.

Salunke argued that Sinha made enough money as an actress to take care of herself and the child,so he was not obligated to provide child support. Sinha, however, challenged this argument, saying the child was the responsibility of both parents.

Sessions Court Judge V P Gaikwad agreed with her. He rejected the Salunke’s appeal and directed him to pay Rs 10,000 per month as child maintenance.

Sinha, who had gone on a long sabbatical after delivering several hit films, recently returned to acting in TV serials like Kavyanjali,Bahu Rani,Zaara and Bhabhi.
