Volvo mishap: ‘Driver worked double shift’

An investigation into the recent bus mishap in which 45 passengers were killed in Andhra Pradesh has revealed that the driver of the ill-fated Hyderabad-bound Volvo bus was stressed and that there were fireworks on board the vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the driver was assigned to work a double shift and was hence stressed,Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes said. He added that the fireworks on board might have caused the explosion.

On October 30,45 passengers were burnt alive as the Bangalore-Hyderabad bus they were travelling in hit a culvert at Mahboobnagar in Andhra Pradesh leading to its fuel tank catching fire and the bus bursting into flames.
