The CBI has assured a Delhi court that it will complete its probe into the Rs 1,150-crore Barak missile deal in two months and submit its final report thereafter.
George Fernandes,Jaya Jaitley, the then Naval chief Admiral Susheel Kumar and arms dealer Suresh Nanda are accused in the case.
The agency told the court that it had received a Letter Rogatory (LR) from the Principality of Liechtenstein in Switzerland, seeking its assistance in the investigation against Suresh Nanda for his alleged involvement in a case of money laundering there.
The CBI informed Special Judge O P Saini about the LRs sent to the UK and Israel for probing the money trail, collecting evidence and getting more leads in the case.
The agency made these disclosures while urging the court to dismiss an application by Nanda son of former Naval chief S M Nanda who has been named by the CBI as the principal broker in its FIR who had moved the court to fly abroad for reviving his business.
The court found favour with the CBIs arguments and noted that Nandas application lacked any specific reasons or business deals for which he wished to travel abroad. The court, however, directed the CBI to conclude its investigation within a reasonable period.
