Arab journalist throws shoe at Iraqi shoe thrower
PARIS: An Arabic-speaking man on Tuesday hurled a shoe at the Iraqi journalist who one year earlier had thrown a shoe at former US president George W Bush. Introducing himself in Arabic as an Iraqi journalist-in-exile at a Paris news conference,the attacker made a brief speech accusing Muntazer al-Zaidi of working for dictatorship and then shouted heres another shoe for you. The shoe was thrown hard,but Zaidi dodged it and it hit a curtain behind the speakers. When I used this method it was against the occupation. I did not use it against a compatriot, said Zaidi.
Audrey Hepburns Givenchy gowns hit auction blocks
PARIS: Audrey Hepburn fans got a sneak peak on Tuesday of dozens of garments and personal effects once belonging to the movie star that will hit the auction blocks next week. A Givenchy black lace dress that Hepburn wore in How to Steal a Million and a demure ivory wedding gown that never made it down the aisle are among the items. She liked very simple things less was always more for Audrey, said auctioneer Kerry Taylor,whose eponymous auction house is handling the sale. The fans,fashionistas and those looking to score a slice of film history were given the preview of the collection in Paris before the Dec. 8 sale in London.
Apocalypse Now voted best film in 30 years
LONDON: Francis Ford Coppolas war movie Apocalypse Now,has been voted the best film of the last 30 years by critics. The 1979 drama,starring Marlon Brando and Martin Sheen,ranked number one on a new poll celebrating 30 years of the London Film Critics Circle Awards,Contactmusic reported. Apocalypse Now,which won Best Film at the inaugural ceremony in 1980,raced ahead of Steven Spielbergs Holocaust epic Schindlers List,which was voted the second best.
