Guwahati, Jan 31: Riding on a quickfire 69 by Vinod Kambli, West Zone beat South Zone by 64 runs in the One-day Deodhar Trophy cricket match played here today.

Batting first, West posted a respectable 244 for seven wickets in 50 overs and then restricted South zone to 180 for nine, thanks to a fine spell by Paras Mhambrey (3 for 28).

In a match rendered inconsequential, with Central Zone already having won the championship, former India medium pacer Dodda Ganesh for South failed to make any impression on the placid Maligaon pitch.

CALCUTTA: East Zone ended their Deodhar Trophy cricket tournament losing their last league match to North by 27 runs. A valiant 75 by East captain Saba Karim and a brisk 32 by Sanjay Raul were of little use as East ended their innings at 240 for nine in reply to North’s 267 for six.
